Sarasota County Fire Department personnel recently reunited with patient Darrel Davidson and his wife, Laura. Mr. Davidson thanked the first responders and the teams at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center and Encompass Health for their care following a medical emergency he experienced after crossing the finish line in a rowing event last month at Nathan Benderson Park.

During the event, SCFD personnel were presented with Phoenix Awards, which include a certificate and a pin worn on the uniform. The award recognizes their efforts in responding to Mr. Davidson’s emergency and their work following his treatment for cardiac arrest.

The event provided an opportunity for both the patient and the responders to reconnect after the medical incident.
