Sarasota County Fire Department Marine Operations personnel conducted swimming proficiency drills during spring break season. The training included a 300-meter active rescue swim to be completed in under 10 minutes and a 15-minute treading water exercise. Additional specific requirements were practiced for certain specialties. These drills are part of routine efforts to ensure that the teams maintain the skills needed to respond promptly to incidents in and around the waters of Sarasota County.
