Ashley Wallace named Bend-La Pine School champion

Bend-La Pine Schools honored Ashley Wallace, a physical education teacher and coach at Pacific Crest Middle School, as the final Champion for Students award recipient of the school year.

The district described Wallace as a “loved member” of the Pacific Crest Middle School community and said she has served at the school for almost six years.

Wallace was nominated by Jane Shein, a 7th grade science and design & modeling teacher. Shein said Wallace makes students feel welcome in her physical education classes, sets high standards, and inspires students to do their best. Shein also said Wallace teaches sportsmanship and fair play and serves as an advocate for students. She described Wallace as head track coach and said she has built a program of more than 200 athletes.

Bend-La Pine Schools said Wallace is being recognized for leadership, commitment, and dedication to students, including fostering an inclusive and supportive culture at Pacific Crest Middle School. The district said her work in physical education and coaching emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and character, and that she creates opportunities for every student to feel welcomed and valued.

The district announced it is proud to honor Wallace as a “true Champion for Students.”
