**Sarasota County Fire Department Hosts Community Events**

The Sarasota County Fire Department (SCFD) recently expressed gratitude to residents who participated in a community event held this past Saturday at Fire Station 23. The department emphasized the importance of engaging with residents and addressed how community input helps shape their services.

SCFD has also announced two upcoming events for the public:

1. **SCFD Open House**

- **When**: Saturday, January 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

- **Where**: Fire Station 23, located at 1930 N. Tamiami Trail, Nokomis.

Families are invited to meet firefighters, explore fire trucks, and learn about fire safety practices, including hands-only CPR. Additional activities include car seat inspections and bike helmet fittings.

2. **Public Hearing**

- **When**: Tuesday, January 21, at the Sarasota County Administration Center, 1660 Ringling Boulevard, Sarasota.

This hearing will discuss fire assessments, SCFD operations, and a proposal to expand the Sarasota County Fire and Rescue District to include part of Nokomis.
