Sarasota County Ends Burn Ban as Drought Eases
Sarasota County, Fla.—As of April 14, 2026, the Sarasota County Fire Department’s burn ban is no longer in effect after the Keetch-Byram Drought Index fell below 500 for seven consecutive days.
The fire department will continue to monitor conditions and urges residents to use extreme caution. The majority of the county continues to experience drought conditions, and a burn ban could be reinstated in the coming weeks due to deficient levels of rain in the forecast.
