The City of North Port Economic Development was recognized as one of America’s New Boomtowns by SmartAsset, earning the No. 12 ranking among 75 municipal economies nationwide, according to a post from Sarasota County Economic Development.

The post said that over the past five years, North Port saw housing units rise by 42%, the labor force increase by 78%, and real GDP grow at an average annual rate of 4.8%. It said the recognition reflects North Port’s success in attracting talent, expanding opportunity, and building a “strong, resilient economy,” and it offered congratulations to the community.
