Sarasota County Schools recently hosted district-wide Parent University events in both North and South County aimed at enhancing K-12 literacy for families. The events provided parents with practical strategies to support reading and writing at home through hands-on workshops led by literacy experts. Participants engaged in activities they can replicate, learned about their child's literacy data, and connected with community resources to support educational success. Complimentary dinner and childcare were offered to allow parents to focus on the workshops. Additionally, resources for food and disaster assistance were made available. The district expressed gratitude to all the families who attended and contributed to building a strong foundation for academic success.
