The Sarasota County Commission held a meeting today that was led by U.S. Army Veteran Andrew Svilokos, who recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Svilokos is a retired Major who served in the Army for over 23 years and completed three combat deployments in Iraq. Throughout his military career, he received several awards, including three Bronze Star Medals, four Meritorious Service Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, an Army Achievement Medal, two National Defense Service Medals, four Iraq Campaign Medals, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, a Korean Defense Service Medal, and an Armed Forces Service Medal.
